As an independent school and registered charity, Havergal relies on philanthropic donations as an important source of financial support to offset operational expenses. Priority areas are identified each year and donors designate which areas they would like to support. From one-time donations to ongoing commitments, all gifts have an important impact on the advancement of Havergal.
Annual Giving Program
While tuition covers general school operations, your annual gifts support investments which help to maintain Havergal’s position as a pre-eminent school for girls. Havergal relies on the Annual Giving Program as an important source of financial support. Each year, we identify priorities for this funding to ensure the areas of greatest need are getting support. With your annual gift, we can inspire young learners to explore their passions.
We are truly grateful to the many members of our community who choose to make transformative gifts in support of our strategic priorities. These generous gifts, often pledged over multiple years, help to advance our school’s mission while at the same time providing a lasting legacy for the donor.
Naming opportunities beginning at $50,000 are available in both the Junior and Upper Schools, as well as in our outdoor spaces. To learn more about current funding priorities and available naming opportunities, please contact Tony diCosmo, Executive Director, Advancement & Community Relations at [email protected] or 416-482-4704.
A planned gift is a gift you choose to commit to now, which is realized in the future. This gift can be made as part of an estate or as a beneficiary to a life insurance plan. Donors who choose to make planned gifts to Havergal automatically become members of the Ellen Knox Society, named for Havergal’s First Principal. For Havergal, confirmed planned gifts allow the school to develop future programs with confidence, knowing that there will be a future base of support. To learn more about planned giving, please contact Lisa Zanlungo, Director of Major Gifts & Campaigns, at [email protected] or 416-483-3843 x6524.
Endowed funds ensure the long-term financial health of the school. An endowment is a fund that is held in perpetuity in order to build capital. The school spends a percentage of the income earned each year. Donors may contribute to enhance an existing fund or create a new one. A minimum of $100,000 is needed to create a new endowed fund and our investments currently sit at more than $26 million.
A tribute gift is a meaningful way to express your gratitude to a staff or faculty member or honour an Old Girl. If you would like to make a gift in honour of someone special, please contact Pearl Goodman, Advancement Officer, Community Relations at [email protected] or 416-482-4707.
