Thanks to many gifts from alumni, parents and friends, Havergal is able to move toward eliminating the tuition fee barrier for exceptional students in the Upper School who otherwise would not be able to attend Havergal. Financial aid is awarded in the form of a bursary. Bursaries are based on demonstrated financial need and are confidential. To be considered, please complete the Financial Assistance for Canadian Students (FACS) application form available on The deadline to apply is January 3, 2022. Financial assistance decisions are separate from admission decisions. Visit Tuition, Financial Information & Scholarships to learn more and to apply. All Grade 9 Boarding applicants will be asked to complete an academic assessment which will be conducted remotely via Zoom during the course of your child’s interview. Through guided conversation, we will work through a series of tasks which are designed to provide Havergal with an understanding of each applicant’s skills in a number of areas such as: literacy, numeracy, communication, critical thinking, problem solving and self-awareness.

All Grade 10 and 11 Boarding applicants must write the SSAT. Please visit for testing dates. Applicants may be interviewed prior to writing the SSAT. If you are unable to schedule a time to take the SSAT please contact [email protected].

English Requirements

Havergal does not offer an ESL program. In order for students to be successful at Havergal, they must be able to demonstrate fluency in both oral and written communication. Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to complete the IELTS test to determine their proficiency.

The interview is designed to allow us to get to know you and your child as well as provide an opportunity for you to ask questions about the Havergal difference. We highly recommend downloading the Zoom app in advance of your interview. Please contact our Admission Office for more details.
