New York University Tisch School of the Arts

For Sloane Turnbull, the stage has been her second home since she saw a performance of the play Matilda at age seven. Starting at Havergal in Grade 7, she fully immersed herself in the arts, performing with the choir and taking drama every year, starring in school productions such as Into the Woods, The Children’s Hour and Matilda. Beyond campus, Sloane’s dedication to theatre took her all the way to New York City, where she was a member of the Broadway Artists Alliance. While there, she trained in acting, singing and dancing, making her off-Broadway debut at 54 Below. She also spent years training intensively with a youth theatre group in Toronto. Sloane enjoyed sharing her love of the arts with children at her former elementary school, dedicating all of her volunteer hours to supporting their fun fair and lip-sync events. After graduation, she returned to New York City to study acting at New York University Tisch School of the Arts through the Playwrights Horizons acting studio. Sloane credits Havergal’s supportive environment for preparing her for the academic aspect of the top-tier arts program and misses Havergal’s tight-knit drama community.
