Beatrice’s green and gold school pride was contagious, which is why she was elected as Clubs and Spirit Prefect in her graduating year. Starting at Havergal in Junior Kindergarten, she was intrigued by the older student spirit leaders and developed an interest in taking on a role where she could express her school pride in innovative ways. This interest in creative expression attracted Beatrice to the fine arts at an early age. “In the Junior School, there was a project where we replicated the same two famous paintings every year from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6,” she explains. “Seeing my progress over the years was really fascinating to me and it drew me to continue exploring the visual arts.” Her grandmother, who is also an artist, motivated Beatrice to apply to the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD), where she is currently pursuing a degree in Fine Arts.

Outside of the arts, Beatrice followed in her mother’s footsteps (a Havergal Boarding student from the Class of 1986) as a member of the Havergal Rowing Team. Beatrice was honoured to be the team’s coxswain for four years because it was an opportunity for her to use her energy and enthusiasm to guide and encourage her teammates to victory.
