Affordability

Havergal’s commitment to excellence, in our programs, our people and our facilities is mirrored in our commitment to affordability. We offer needs-based financial support as well as merit-based scholarships for students entering the Upper School (Grades 7 to 12).

Future Planning

We recognize it is important for families to see a fulsome picture of the cost of a Havergal education. Our Financial Handbook outlines payment plans, additional costs and how our financial support program works. Families can expect a minimum of 3% tuition increase each year. Philanthropy is a key component of Havergal’s ability to remain at the forefront of girls’ education and families who are able are asked to contribute to the Annual Fund in the amount of $2,500 per child.

Financial Support/Bursaries

Application Deadline: January 6, 2026

Financial support is awarded in the form of a bursary. Bursaries are based on demonstrated financial need and are confidential. All applicants must meet the school’s terms for admission or re-registration to be considered for a bursary. The amount of financial support awarded is applied as a reduction of tuition fees. Havergal has partnered with Apple Financial Services to ensure a bias-free, comprehensive determination of need. Application forms can be found at applefinancialservices.ca.

Helpful Tips

  • Begin the Apple Financial Services application as early as possible. It must be fully completed, as determined by Apple Financial, by January 6, 2026.
  • After reviewing the application, collect all of the required documentation (tax returns etc.) An incomplete application may result in a delay in a decision.
  • Reach out—we know this process can feel overwhelming. Email us at [email protected], and a team member will connect with you to ensure you are feeling comfortable with the process.

Entrance Scholarships

Scholarships at Havergal honour and support students with exceptional talents who meet academic admission standards and who contribute to the life of the school in significant ways. Entrance scholarships are based on merit, not on financial need. Families can, however, apply for both a scholarship and financial support.

HC Community Builder Scholarship: Grade 9

The Havergal Community Builder Scholarship is designed for the academically talented student who contributes to their school, neighbourhood or other local or international organization through involvement in programs that are meaningful to them. Aware of the importance of community, the recipient will live the Havergal values of integrity, inquiry, compassion and courage. They have demonstrated leadership, formally or informally, in a way that is inclusive and kind.

The Havergal Difference Maker scholarship was made possible by the Class of 2021, who along with Havergal College, are committed to enacting positive change and ensuring Havergal is an inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and valued. This scholarship is awarded to a student who supports this vision and, through their engagement within their own school, community, or volunteer position, has strived to make a difference in their own right. The Class of 2021 recognizes the limited access the BIPOC community has historically had to a Havergal education and priority will be given to candidates from identities currently underrepresented at Havergal.

Requirements: Interested students must complete the Havergal Scholarship application portion of the admission application and provide a reference letter from a teacher, Principal, Guidance Counsellor, coach or community leader.

The recipient of this scholarship will have demonstrated their commitment to their education and to giving back to others, and will work to support the special community our Boarding School provides.
