Entrance Scholarships

Scholarships at Havergal honour and support students with exceptional talents who meet academic admission standards and who contribute to the life of the school in significant ways. Entrance scholarships are based on merit, not on financial need, although they may be structured to include a financial need component at the donor’s request. The amount of the scholarship awarded is applied as a reduction of tuition fees.

Candidates for entrance scholarships must complete a Scholarship Application Form, which is included in the admission online application process. The specific terms for the scholarships are detailed below:

The Principal’s Scholarship

Established in 2015, The Principal’s Scholarship is available to four new Grade 9 students of high academic standing who otherwise could not afford to attend the school.

Designed to support the recipients throughout their academic journeys at Havergal’s Senior School (Grades 9 to 12), the scholarships will be awarded based on academic standing, demonstrated financial need, community engagement and exemplary character. Scholarships are valued at up to 95% of the cost of tuition for four years. All applicants must apply for financial aid through Apple Financial Services.

Ideal candidates are students from across the Greater Toronto Area who demonstrate a love of learning and a willingness to step up and make a difference in the community. Successful applicants are keen, engaged students who embody the school’s values of integrity, inquiry, compassion and courage.

To apply for this scholarship, complete an admission application form. Applications must be submitted by December 1, 2017.

Upon completion of the admission application, please submit the following material to admissions@nullhavergal.on.ca:

  • A personal profile/resume;
  • Two letters of reference; one which speaks to the candidate’s academic performance and aptitude, the other to her character; and
  • A statement of 800 words or less describing why it is important for a school and its students to embody the values of integrity, inquiry, compassion and courage.
