Step 2: Financial Assistance
Deadline to apply for Financial Assistance: January 6, 2020
Thanks to many gifts from Old Girls, parents and friends, Havergal is able to move toward eliminating the tuition fee barrier for exceptional students in the Upper School who otherwise would not be able to attend Havergal. Financial aid is awarded in the form of a bursary. Bursaries are based on demonstrated financial need and are confidential.
To be considered, please complete the Financial Assistance for Canadian Students (FACS) application form available on applefinancialservices.ca. The deadline to apply is January 6, 2020. Financial assistance decisions are separate from admission decisions. Visit Tuition and Finanancial Information to learn more and to apply. Havergal also offers several Entrance Scholarships that are based on the financial need demonstrated by the candidate.
Step 3: Assessment
Grade 9 to 11 applicants must write the SSAT and may register to write the test at www.ssat.org. Applicants may be interviewed prior to writing the SSAT. Times and locations in your area can be obtained from the website or by calling SSAT at 609-683-4440.
Step 4: English Requirements
Havergal does not offer an ESL program. In order for students to be successful at Havergal, they must be able to demonstrate fluency in both oral and written communication. Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to complete the IELTS test determine their proficiency.
Step 5: Tour & Interview
Once we receive your completed application and your online interview is completed, all applicants are contacted to schedule a personal tour and interview. The interview is designed to allow us to get to know you and your daughter as well as provide an opportunity for you to ask questions about the Havergal difference. While we recommend that families visit Havergal for a tour and their interview, we are able to interview candidates by phone or via Skype for those who are unable to visit in person. Please let us know if you will be in the Toronto area. We would love to have you visit the school and for your daughter to be our guest for an overnight stay in the Boarding School.
Please contact our Admission Office for more details. Admission decisions for Boarding candidates are made as soon as the candidate’s file is complete. Learn more about Boarding at Havergal.
Step 6: Admission Decision
Boarding admissions are completed on a rolling basis and applications should be submitted as early as possible. We highly recommend applying by November 30, 2019. All applications must be accompanied by the application fee and copies of the previous two years’ report cards, which have been translated into English if necessary. It is also important to include a summary of the grading system if it does not appear on the report card.
