Salary for this position: $20.00 – $22.00/an hour

The Position
The Facility Attendant is responsible for providing support and services to all users of the Havergal College facilities to ensure the safe, efficient operation of the school. Duties include opening and closing of athletic and rental facilities, general maintenance of the facilities and systems, minor repairs, preventative maintenance tasks, event set up/take down, and provision of assistance to other Facilities staff in the performance of their duties when required. Must be able to work in a safety conscious and team-oriented environment. Must maintain a consistent and good attendance record in accordance with school policy.
Specific Accountabilities
Facility & Program Operations:
- Actively monitor tennis courts, the pool, gyms, the fitness centre, grass fields, and various event spaces.
- Coordinate rental user groups, maintain program schedules, and facilitate seamless transitions between activities.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for users, addressing inquiries, concerns or complaints with a customer-focused approach.
- Respond promptly to all walkie-talkie requests from Security or the Facilities office.
- All other duties which may be requested by management.
Maintenance & Technical Support:
- Conduct regular inspections of mechanical and non-mechanical equipment, reporting any issues to leadership.
- Perform minor repairs on defective equipment or assist senior staff and contractors with larger maintenance projects.
- Utilize the electronic maintenance request system to receive and complete work tickets under the direction of a Manager.
- Execute pool water chemical tests and administer necessary treatments to ensure readings meet safety standards.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of mechanical, electrical, and storage rooms.
Safety & Logistics:
- Oversee the safety of all campus activities and respond immediately to any safety concerns.
- Perform routine safety and property inspections, documenting and reporting deficiencies to a Manager.
- Execute room configurations by moving furniture and equipment according to diagrams, working closely with Room Bookings personnel.
- Perform nightly cleaning duties across facilities and oversee waste disposal as needed.
- Provide critical support to Grounds staff during emergencies or heavy snowfall.
- Successfully complete all required safety training and follow industry guidelines.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent safe lifting, carrying, and moving of furniture, materials and mechanical equipment up to 40 lbs., using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Regular work in dusty or dirty conditions (tunnels, mechanical rooms) requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Prolonged standing and working from crouched, bending, or overhead positions.
- Frequent use of ladders and manlifts.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- High school diploma required; a college diploma in facilities, building operations, recreation, or a related field is an asset.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Facilities or Athletics role.
- Pool operator experience or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is an asset.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Gmail (email).
- Good knowledge of general building repairs and materials.
- Ability to read floor plans and set-up diagrams.
- Working knowledge of industry standards and safety guidelines is an asset.
- Team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact directly with faculty, staff, students, and visitors, and translate requests into action.
- Self-motivated, with a strong commitment to providing excellent service.
- Ability to wear a uniform, provided by the college, at all times while on duty.
- Ability to work outside of core business hours, as required

Workplace Requirements:
- Work Shifts available: (Subject to change, must be able to work minimum one (1) shift per week)
- Saturday 7:00am – 3:00pm
- Sunday 7:00am – 3:00pm
- Sunday 3:00pm – 11:00pm
- Occasional day shift, weekday, and holiday work may be required.
