Carol Welsman is an internationally-acclaimed singer and pianist whose expressive vocal styling and dynamic stage presence have captivated audiences around the world. Carol’s numerous achievements include six Juno Award nominations and several Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards. She was inducted into the Havergal Old Girls Hall of Distinction in November 2014 for her remarkable contributions to the world of music.
Dr. Shelly Dev is a critical-care specialist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and a lecturer in the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Dev’s career also allows her to couple her love for fine arts with science (areas that stemmed from her Havergal education) as she creates instructional videos for clinical education. In 2009, she received the Havergal Young Alumna Award for her ongoing commitment to making a difference.
As a member of the Canadian Women’s National Hockey Team, Gillian Apps is a three-time Olympic Gold medalist (2006, 2010 & 2014). Following her first two Olympic wins, Gillian visited Havergal to talk with current students about her journey and to let her teachers and coaches know how they had influenced her life. In 2009, Gillian was inducted in to the Havergal Old Girls Hall of Distinction for her outstanding achievements.
