On the evening of Monday, October 23, Old Girls gathered at Havergal to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2017 Old Girls Award recipients and thank the dedicated Class Representatives for keeping alumnae connected “beyond the ivy.”
Congratulations to Old Girls Life Achievement Award recipient Catherine Lawrence (Class of 1977) for her work motivating people in the art of joy and raising and awareness and funds for lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), a disease affecting just five in every one million women. Congratulations also go to Susan Ditchburn Young Alumna Award recipient Dr. Fariha Khan (Class of 1998) for her work treating the most vulnerable patients in our community, including maternal-child, mental health and immigrant populations. Fariha also dedicates herself to issues of social justice, poverty, international development and civic engagement. Notably, she is a director of Islamic Relief Canada (IRC) – the world’s largest Muslim NGO – which provides humanitarian aid and sustainable development to more than 35 countries.
