Dear Parents,

Toronto continues to see a significant increase in COVID-19 case counts and the spread of variants of concern. As a result, today Toronto Public Health (TPH) issued a Section 22 order under the Health Protection and Promotion Act to close all schools in Toronto and move to remote learning effective Wednesday, April 7. This closure is intended to minimize risk by breaking any chains of transmission and further protect students and staff from additional exposure. You can read the TPH government announcement here.

In accordance with this order, the Havergal campus will be closed beginning Wednesday, April 7 and all students will return to our Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) until the April Break. Our CLP was designed to be flexible and allow teaching and learning to continue safely at home during campus closures. Our students have become familiar with the CLP throughout the year during other periods of remote learning.

Students have been asked to take all essential resources home with them. Kate White will reach out to Grades 1- 4 families regarding a pick-up schedule for their materials on Friday.

We acknowledge the uncertainty and frustration you may be experiencing as we shift back to remote learning. We are committed to providing an effective learning experience for students, applying all that we have learned throughout the various stages of this pandemic. Supporting our students is our top priority

Thank you again for your flexibility, understanding, and support as we continue to work together as a community to be safe, healthy and move forward to better days.

Yours sincerely,

Catherine Misson
Principal
