On Friday, February 24, the Senior School welcomed Mark Schatzker, acclaimed author of The Dorito Effect, along with local chef and Old Girl Devon Walsh (Class of 2006) and Havergal’s Director of Food Services Rauni Whiteley as a part of our symposium on modern food that explored food as science and industry.
This exciting morning began with a parent seminar and Prayers led by Mark Schatzker about the industrialization of flavour, followed by a panel discussion that also included Devon Walsh and Rauni Whiteley about their thoughts on food and the modern food industry. The panel discussion ended with a food tasting for students.
This symposium explored the social, political, economic and flavour impacts of food on our lives. We thank all of our special guests and the event’s participants!
