The conflict and resulting refugee crisis across Syria and neighbouring countries has struck a chord with our students. As a result, a group of Upper School students at Havergal has teamed up with their peers at Crescent School to create the Dignity For All initiative. The goal of the program is to create a safe and inclusive community space for refugee families in Toronto.
On Saturday, February 27, the Dignity For All group hosted a group of refugee families at Havergal’s Junior School. At this event, guests, students and volunteers participated in bench ball and basketball in the gym, made various arts and crafts projects in the lunchroom and played computer games in the Learning Hub. They also enjoyed a pizza lunch.
It was a great way to welcome these newest members of the Toronto community. The Dignity For All group would like to thank their guests for coming to Havergal to meet them. They plan on hosting more events like this in the future both at Havergal College and Crescent School.
