It was a beautiful afternoon for our Appletree Farmers’ Market in the South Quad yesterday, which was the last farmers’ market of the school year! Students, faculty, staff and members of the Havergal community enjoyed treats such as ice cream sandwiches and hello dollies as well as pasta, maple syrup and fresh produce. We also had the opportunity to learn about monarch butterfly conservation and hear musical performances by our students.
Appletree Farmers’ Market, run by Old Girl Lesley Stoyan (Class of 1990), is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting local community shopping experience. Brought to the school through a partnership with the Institute at Havergal, students involved in this farmers’ market group learned about local food sources and social enterprise.
