Dear Parents,

I am writing to provide you with an update following the announcement made today by the Ontario government. As you may have heard, this afternoon the Premier announced a province-wide lockdown, which results in all publicly funded and private elementary and secondary schools moving to remote learning following the holiday break, effective January 4. You can read more about this announcement here.

All Havergal students will transition to remote learning on Monday, January 4. Students in JK to 8 will return to campus for in-person learning on Monday, January 11. Students in Grades 9 to 12 will remain learning remotely until the start of second semester on Tuesday, February 2. These dates may be revised by the provincial government, and we will communicate accordingly.

Whilst it is regrettable that schools are closing their campuses, our students have proven to be very agile learners and I have every confidence in their ability to adapt to continuous learning in remote set-up.

Your child’s Head of School will communicate details of their Continuous Learning Schedule on Wednesday, December 30. This will include additional information on attendance tracking, wellbeing and co-curricular programming.

We look forward to Havergal’s return to campus as soon as it is safe to do so, and thank you again for your cooperation and understanding.

Wishing you a safe holiday,

Catherine Misson
Principal
