Grades 8, 10 & 11
Limited spaces are sometimes available for Day students in non-traditional entry years. We encourage you to apply early as priority is given to families who apply by the registration deadline. We will contact selected candidates to schedule interviews after the registration deadline and once the candidate’s SSAT results have been received. Our registration process is complete at the end of February, which helps determine the number of places available each year.

Step 2: Assessment
Grade 8 to 11 applicants must write the SSAT and may register to write the test at www.ssat.org. For any student applying for Grade 8 through 11, the SSAT must be completed by January 20, 2019. Applicants may be interviewed prior to writing the SSAT.
Please note: If English is not the applicant’s first language, they may be asked to write the IELTS assessment to determine their English proficiency.
Step 3: Online Interview
Once the application is completed, all candidates will be asked to complete an online interview. This interview must be completed within one week of receiving the link. The purpose of this step in our admission process is two-fold: to allow us to get to know a bit about your daughter, what she values and what motivates her before she comes for her personal interview. It will also allow the girls to have an opportunity to introduce themselves to us in an environment that they are comfortable in. There is a wide variety of questions that may be asked, but each girl will start with the same question – “why do you believe it is important to educate young women?”
Applicants are able to answer practice questions prior to beginning the interview and have an opportunity to become comfortable with the format before they begin the recorded interview. It is important that each applicant knows this is a tool that helps us to get to know them – the recorded interview is not scored. Once the online interview is completed, applicants will be contacted to book their personal tour and interview.
Step 4: Tour & Interview
We will contact selected candidates to schedule interviews after the registration deadline and once the candidate’s SSAT results have been received. The interview is designed to allow us to get to know you and your daughter as well as provide an opportunity for you to ask questions about the Havergal difference. Applicants who are overseas will be invited to participate in a Skype interview. Upper School tours are led by student volunteers, known as Havergal Ambassadors.
Step 5: Financial Assistance
Deadline to apply for Financial Assistance: January 7, 2019
Thanks to many gifts from Old Girls, parents and friends, Havergal is able to move toward eliminating the tuition fee barrier for exceptional students in the Upper School who otherwise would not be able to attend Havergal. Financial aid is awarded in the form of a bursary. Bursaries are based on demonstrated financial need and are confidential.
To be considered, please complete the Financial Assistance for Canadian Students (FACS) application form available on applefinancialservices.ca. The deadline to apply is January 7, 2019. Financial assistance decisions are separate from admission decisions. Visit Tuition and Finanancial Information to learn more and to apply. Havergal also offers several Entrance Scholarships that are based on the financial need demonstrated by the candidate.
Step 6: Admission Decision
All admission decisions will be emailed to families on February 22, 2019.
