Step 2: Assessment
As a highly academic school with a Liberal Arts focus, it is critical that our admission process includes the identification of qualities and skills that are important for success at Havergal College and beyond. After two years of research and development, we have established the Havergal Critical Competencies & Character Assessment for our Grade 7 candidates. All candidates must complete this assessment on Saturday, December 7 from 9 to 11 am at Havergal and all candidates are automatically registered. Grade 7 candidates who live overseas or outside of the GTA must complete the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) by December 31, 2019. Please let the Admission Office know the date that your daughter will be writing the SSAT if she is not writing our assessment.
Please note: If English is not the applicant’s first language, they may be asked to write the IELTS or TOEFL assessment to determine their English proficiency.
Step 3: Tour & Interview
Once we receive your completed application, all applicants are contacted to schedule a personal tour and interview. The interview is designed to allow us to get to know you and your daughter as well as provide an opportunity for you to ask questions about the Havergal difference. Applicants who are overseas will be invited to participate in a Skype interview. Grade 7 tours are led by student volunteers, known as Havergal Ambassadors.
Step 4: Financial Assistance
Deadline to apply for Financial Assistance: January 7, 2019
Thanks to many gifts from Old Girls, parents and friends, Havergal is able to move toward eliminating the tuition fee barrier for exceptional students in the Upper School who otherwise would not be able to attend Havergal. Financial aid is awarded in the form of a bursary. Bursaries are based on demonstrated financial need and are confidential.
To be considered, please complete the Financial Assistance for Canadian Students (FACS) application form available on applefinancialservices.ca. The deadline to apply is January 6, 2020. Financial assistance decisions are separate from admission decisions. Visit Tuition and Finanancial Information to learn more and to apply. Havergal also offers several Entrance Scholarships that are based on the financial need demonstrated by the candidate.
Step 5: Admission Decision
All admission decisions will be emailed to families on February 21, 2020.
