The goal of the Library Resource Centre is to prepare our students to live in a culture flooded with media and information. We must ensure that all students have the opportunity to acquire a lifelong love of reading and to develop skills, that will enable them to be independent, effective, responsible, critical, and creative users of ideas and information.
The Library Resource Centre bustles with activity all day long. Many students come to the library during their unscheduled class periods to work, study, read and in some cases, relax. The computer terminals are almost always in use. In addition, classes (often two at a time) visit the library throughout the day. Currently, the library teacher collaborates with many visiting classroom teachers; an important goal is to have the teacher librarian work with all visiting classes. This collaborative effort helps integrate the library resources and information technology skills as well as the subject area content into student projects. Faculty and students benefit from the breadth of the Library Resource Centre collection, which includes both print and non-print materials.
