Congratulations to Old Girl Ali Shamie, Class of 2012, for being selected to join the Queen’s Gaels women’s volleyball team this fall! Ali led Havergal to the Consolation Championship at the 2012 OFSAA AAA championship last year after the team won 12-0 in the CISAA championships. She also co-led the Leaside Lightning to an Ontario Championship last season with her future Gaels teammate Becky Wilson.
Head Coach Christian-Macfarlane says of Shamie: “Aside from her ability to lead an outstanding and effective offense, Ali has the intangibles we look for in a setter. She has an incredibly calm demeanor; she works hard and is determined to be the best. She has a way of taking care of business that allows the passers and hitters to look great around her. I am really excited to add Ali to the team next season. “
The Queen’s team will start the season defending their OUA championship on September 12 at the Ryerson Invitations Tournament in Toronto.
