Appreciation & Recognition

Thank You for Your Support
Without the generous assistance the school receives from its outstanding community of parents, Old Girls, staff and friends, Havergal College wouldn't be what it is today—one of the pre-eminent schools for girls in Canada. Thank you for your vision and for your support!

Havergal is pleased to offer an annual Donor Recognition Evening at the school and further recognizes its many donors through a series of giving societies (see below).

To learn more about the Havergal Giving Societies please contact Heather McLean at 416-482-4707, or e-mail hmclean @havergal.on.ca.

Giving Societies

Green & Gold Society
The Green & Gold Society honours donors for the year in which they play a leadership role with a gift of $1,000 or more. Green & Gold Society members fall into four categories:
•    Champion: $10,000 and above
•    Benefactor: $5,000 – $9,999
•    Patron: $1,000 – $4,999

We are pleased to offer Old Girls who graduated less than 10 years ago membership in the Sponsor Category with a minimum donation of $500.

Ivy Society

The Ivy Society honours donors who have made a gift to Havergal each fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) for ten or more consecutive years. Ivy Society members have shown an unwavering commitment to Havergal and we are deeply thankful for their dedication and generosity. There are approximately 300 members of the Ivy Society. New members of the Ivy Society are recognized for their commitment with a small ivy leaf pin.

Havergal Circle
Members of the Havergal Circle have made annual and leadership contributions to a variety of activities within the school totalling $25,000 or more. Havergal is fortunate to have many visionary donors who have made significant contributions to support teaching and learning at Havergal. In recognition of outstanding financial leadership to Havergal, the school is pleased to recognize those individuals who have cumulatively given $25,000 or more to Havergal, by including their names on the Havergal Circle wall. All types of gifts including endowed gifts and realized planned gifts contribute to a donor’s cumulative total.

Ellen Knox Society
Donors of planned gifts become members of the Ellen Knox Society, so named for Havergal's Founding Principal. This society pays tribute to Havergal’s first Principal and recognizes those who have the foresight to provide for the future. There are no dues or other obligations for membership in the Ellen Knox Society—it is simply an opportunity for Havergal to extend its gratitude to individuals who notify us of their thoughtful gift intentions while they are living.

Havergal appreciates every donation it receives and takes great care to acknowledge all donations. Planned gifts, however, often go unrecognized while the donor is alive because Havergal has not been advised of the gift. If you have made a provision for Havergal in your estate plans, we invite you to join the Ellen Knox Society by informing Havergal of your decision.

Ellen Knox Society Book of Honour
The first Ellen Knox Society Tea was held on May 9, 2001, where the Ellen Knox Society Book of Honour was unveiled. This book, which is crafted from hand-carved oak and hand-dyed parchment paper, includes the names of more than sixty Old Girls, parents and friends who have made planned gifts to Havergal. The book is housed in the Ellen Knox Library and the names of new donors will continue to be added to its pages each year.

Preparing young women to make a difference since 1894.
