Junior School: A Special Place for Girls to Learn and Grow Consisting of Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6, the Junior School is a nurturing, warm environment where children are actively engaged in learning.
A unique combination of many features makes the Junior School a distinctive, welcoming and nurturing environment for learning. In part, it is the supportive school climate within which girls can be active, joyful and passionate learners. Girls feel safe taking risks, knowing that their teachers understand and value their individual learning styles and strengths.
At the Junior School, girls are excited and challenged by a multidisciplinary approach to learning that makes holistic connections between subject areas. Teachers work in teams, making learning more meaningful and authentic for their students.
In order to foster a sense of community, to nurture self-esteem and to help develop leadership skills, students are given special responsibilities in the school. Leadership skills are developed at every grade level and opportunities and responsibilities increase with age and grade. Community involvement is fostered through events and initiatives that teach students to understand and support others.
A special feature of the Havergal Junior School is its beautiful, light-filled building overlooking a natural woodland ravine on a 22-acre campus. A bridge connects the Junior School to the Upper School allowing the best of both worlds—students, faculty and staff move between the schools to share activities and facilities.
