Scholarships & Bursaries
Many Old Girls, parents and friends have recognized the need for student financial assistance and have generously given their support to this area of need. Often, donors create named, endowed awards that are designated for students with particular, strengths and talents. Funds have been named for Old Girls, graduating classes, families, former students and faculty/staff. Thanks to these gifts, Havergal is able to move toward eliminating the tuition fee barrier for exceptional students who otherwise would not be able to attend Havergal.
All scholarships and bursaries are awarded in compliance with relevant SEAL, CIS and Havergal policies and CRA rules, and with respect for donor intentions.

Bursaries A bursary is a financial award provided to a student who would not be able to attend Havergal without financial assistance. Bursaries are based on demonstrated financial need. Bursaries are based on need and are confidential. All applicants must meet the school’s terms for admission or re-registration to be considered for a bursary. Bursaries clearly demonstrate the school’s commitment to providing as many exceptional applicants as possible with a Havergal education, regardless of financial means. The amount of financial assistance awarded is applied as a reduction of tuition fees.

ScholarshipsA scholarship is a financial award presented to a student in recognition of high achievement.
Scholarships are based on merit, not on financial need, although they may be structured to include a financial need component at the donor’s request. Scholarships at Havergal honour and support students with exceptional talents who meet academic admission standards and who contribute to the life of the school in significant ways. Scholarships clearly demonstrate Havergal’s dedication to recognizing outstanding academic achievement and potential. The amount of the scholarship awarded is applied as a reduction of tuition fees.
A number of scholarships and bursaries are available for day and boarding students. Please contact the Admission Office at 416.482.4724 or admissions @havergal.on.ca for more information.
Financial Assistance for 2013-2014Our generous donors have established endowed funds through The Havergal College Foundation. Several of these endowed funds were specifically established to provide bursaries for students with significant financial need. In order to apply for a bursary, please fill out the Financial Assistance for Canadian Students (FACS) application forms and submit your application no later than January 11, 2013. The deadline for returning students is December 31, 2012. A third party assesses the information in order to confirm financial need. Bursaries are granted on an annual basis; therefore an application must be submitted each year. The Student Assistance Committee reviews all applications and grants financial assistance after review of the recommendation by the third party agency. It is to your advantage to submit the bursary application in a timely manner for consideration by the Committee at the earliest possible date.
