Board of Governors

The Board of Governors is responsible for the overall stewardship of Havergal College, including establishing the school's direction and priorities and overseeing its financial and administrative functions. The Board is responsible for appointing the Principal, to whom authority is delegated over the administration of the College and matters pertaining to curriculum and staffing. The Board maintains several standing committees and membership on these committees includes representation from the Havergal community and beyond.

Governors are elected to the Board based on their demonstrated willingness to commit time and energy to the school, their representation of key school constituencies and the match between their skills and resources and those needed for effective governance of the school, including expertise in finance, law, human resources, marketing, facilities development and management, fundraising, information technology and education. The Board is comprised of 18 elected Governors and six ex-officio Governors (the Principal, the President and Vice-President of the Havergal Old Girls Association, a representative of the Anglican Church, the Chair of the Havergal Community Committee and the Chair of the Havergal College Foundation). Potential Governors are identified through Board sub-committees and through consultation with the school's constituencies.
